GENERAL CARE:

What to wear under your fursuit:

• Always wear some kind of moisture-wicking clothing under your fursuit! 
• HeatGear Under Armour is awesome, or any other type that will keep you cool (make sure it is designed to cool you down and not to trap heat!).
• I also recommend wearing a balaclava under your head.
• This will help to keep you cool, protect the fursuit parts from sweat, and it's also much easier to get in and out of the fursuit.

Storage

• Clean the fursuit and let it dry fully first before putting it storage
• Do not store a suit in direct sunlight or in a damp space
• Make sure not to bunch it up or storage too tightly, fur pile may crinkle or create weird folds
• You can store fursuits in large platic storage tubs or make a dedicated space in your closet for your suit

  Bodysuit: 

• Bodysuits can be either folded or hung on a wide shouldered hanger
  
• Always store (especially when hanging) without any parts attached (zip-off the tail and/or feetpaws and store these separated) to avoid stretching
  

  Head: 

• Try not to squish the head in any way (especially ears)
• Either spread out the neck nicley or gently tuck it into the head

  Other parts: 

CLEANING

General:

Brushing:

• Brushing your suit is very important, but keep in mind that over-brushing is also not good! This fur doesn't grow back
• Brush your suit before and after suiting, also right after you clean it and during drying
• I recommend owning two brushes for your fursuit - a slicker brush with tiny plastic balls at the tips and a natural fiber pet brush
• Slicker brush: use for long fur, matted spaces (armpits/crotch)
• Natural fiber brush: use this one for shaved fur (face/fingers)
  

Disinfecting:

• Use some kind of trusted fursuit spray or disinfecting spray after you're done suiting and spray the parts where you sweat (inside of paws, armsleeves, head and bodysuit) - this will help to disinfect the suit right away and keep it a bit cleaner and smelling nicer before you get a chance to wash it fully
• Do NOT spray directly at the eyes from outside or inside!

Machine washable parts:

• Handpaws, armsleeves, feetpaws (planti/partial only), tails (if they fit) and bodysuits are machine washable! Please follow specific instructions for each part that can be found below
• Use a laundry bag or pillowcase for parts that fit to protect fur fibers
• Low heat cycle only (30°C) and some kind of gentle liquid detergent (something that's meant for wool is ideal)
• If the parts are still very wet after washing, put them through another spin cycle
• Brush everything fully after taking it out of the washing machine! Don't forget to brush the short pile too (especially between the fingers on handpaws) and brush at least once or twice while drying
• If there are any large stains, spot-clean these first before washing

Handpaws:

• Wash them in a laundry bag or pillowcase to protect the fur

Armsleeves:

• Turn them inside out to wash
• After washing, turn them right side out and brush fully

Feetpaws:

• Clean the bottoms of outdoor feetpaws with a wet wipe or cloth first to remove any dirt
• Prop up against something to dry and try to rotate them while drying.
  

Bodysuits:

• Unstuff digi bodysuit first - get two bags and use one for each leg padding so it is clear how much to put back in each one.
• Turn the bodysuit inside out to wash.
• After washing, turn the bodysuit right side out and brush fully
• To help the inside to dry too (especially for digi bodysuits with sewn-in padding pockets), turn the bodysuit inside out again after a while and let it dry out! Turn at least twice for each side to dry.
  
• Do NOT hang to dry! Wet fur is heavy and can stretch out the bodysuit. Ideally, spread it out on a drying rack

Non-machine washable parts:

• Heads and digitigrade feetpaws are non-machine washable! Please follow specific instructions for each part that can be found below
• Use a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner (e.g. Little Green Machine from Bissell, I personally own the Bissell 4720M and can recommend that one!)
• Low heat only (30°C) and some kind of gentle liquid detergent (something that's meant for wool is ideal)
• Brush everything fully after washing! Don't forget to brush the short pile too and brush at least once or twice while drying
• If there are any large stains, spot-clean these first before washing

How to use a portable cleaner when cleaning a suit:

• Use heavily watered down gentle liquid detergent (something that's meant for wool is ideal) and cold/luke warm water
• Always go with the fur pile direction
• Work in small areas - spray water with detergent on one place clean that first, repeat until you cleaned all of the parts and repeat if needed to get everything nice and clean
• Gently push on the suit to get all the water sucked out
• Repeat with clean water to get any remaining detergent out

Heads:

• Put paper towels over the eyes, they are water proof but I don't reccomend geting water or detergent on them unless needed (contact me about this if needed)
• Don't forget to clean inside the head, mouth and neck!
• Don't squish the head to hard to avoid issues (it can take some rough handling but it's better to be safe than sorry)
• Whipe the eyes out carefully with paper towels/napkins
• Gently place somewhere to dry, optionaly on a fan or with a fan directed on it! 
• Rotate the head while drying so all sides (including inside the head) can dry fully!
• Tongues can be cleaned with portable cleaner too or machine washed if needed (do NOT put magnetic tongues in the washing machine tho!)
